First

For my first post I thought I would start off with what I am working on at the moment in photography. The following photos were taken in Melbourne and Canberra, Australia and also San Francisco in America. The photos are all different, which was done on purpose. For each of the cities I photographed memorable things for me. When composing the photos and in post editing, I wanted the images to convey the feelings I had as I was actually visiting the cities.
The image above was taken in Melbourne central mall. During my trip to Melbourne, My friends and I joined 'Occupy Melbourne' and went street art hunting. The overall feel was effected by the blend of the old and the new of the city. I composed the image to draw your eye to the old building first then to lead you eye further into the image and into the new. In editing I processed the image into an HDR (high dynamic range) photo, this enhanced the shadows and highlight of the scene. I also used saturation in photoshop to give it a richer color.
This image was taken in Canberra, where I have lived for the past 2 years. Canberra is like no other city I have ever been to before because it is like a small town feel in a metropolitan city. Everyone knows each other even though the population is almost 350,000. I took this photo from the tallest point that I knew of in order to get the most of central Canberra. In photoshop I used the technique Tilt-shift to create the illusion that it is a toy city.
The final image is of San Francisco. I took the image a year ago when I was visiting family. I took a day trip to San Fran with the mission of getting a photo of the bridge. We wandered around the town and I took photos from all different angles but while exploring I found that the roads in the city are very long and that the building are tall. In addition the people seem to be very off beat you could say. I found the bridge mirrors the city and the people within it, in both the length of the bridge and the height of the two supports and the unique color.

I would like to give thanks to bo peep photography http://bopeepphotography.blogspot.com/
